We Announced It. Now It's Here.
Remember when we told you continuous scanning was coming? That article got more clicks than anything we've published. Drivers were tagging us, emailing us, asking "when?" every week.
The answer is now. Continuous scan mode is live in FlexMesh 0.4.0.
If you've ever stood in a warehouse at 6 AM, gloveless in January, tapping scan-confirm-exit-reopen for a hundred packages — you already know why this matters. That soul-crushing loop is over.
What Is Continuous Scan Mode?
You open the scanner once. You point your phone at a waybill. FlexMesh's AI OCR reads the address, logs the package, and immediately gets ready for the next one. No confirm button. No exiting the page. No reopening anything. Just keep moving.
Here's what you get:
- Zero exit-reopen cycle — the scanner stays open the entire time. One session, all packages.
- AI OCR auto-extraction — addresses are pulled from the waybill image automatically. No manual typing.
- Real-time count on screen — always know exactly how many you've scanned so far.
- Works with any carrier waybill — Amazon, FedEx, UPS, Purolator, Intelcom, Canada Post. Doesn't matter.
What's New in 0.4.0 Beyond Continuous Scan?
We didn't just ship continuous scan. Version 0.4.0 adds three features that drivers asked for during beta:
- Bounding box detection overlay — you see a live rectangle around the waybill as the camera locks onto it. No guessing whether the scan is working.
- Beep sound on success — an audible confirmation so you don't have to stare at the screen. Hear the beep, move to the next package.
- Manual shutter button in auto mode — auto mode handles 95% of scans, but if a waybill is crumpled or at a weird angle, tap the shutter button to force a capture. Best of both worlds.
How Does This Compare to Other Apps?
Let's be honest. Circuit, Route4Me, Zeo, Routific, Onfleet — they all still make you scan-confirm-repeat. Some call it "auto scan" but you still tap confirm after every single package. That's not continuous. That's semi-automatic at best.
FlexMesh is the only delivery app with true continuous scanning. No taps between packages. No page transitions. No interruptions. You scan like you're filming a video — just walk and go.
The Warehouse Workflow: How Drivers Actually Use It
Here's the workflow that drivers in our beta have been using:
- Arrive at your shelf or cage. Flip all waybills face-up.
- Open FlexMesh continuous scan. Hold your phone steady.
- Walk along the shelf at a normal pace. The camera reads each waybill as you pass it.
- Listen for the beep. See the count go up. If one doesn't read, pause for a second or tap the manual shutter.
- One pass. Done. All packages logged.
- Tap "Optimize Route" — FlexMesh's Superroute engine sequences your stops into the fastest route.
- Load your vehicle in reverse order and hit the road.
The whole scanning process takes minutes, not the 20-30 minute ordeal it used to be.
Why Should I Care About Scanning Speed?
Because time in the warehouse is time you're not delivering. And in this business, deliveries are how you earn.
If you save 15 minutes every morning on scanning, that's over an hour a week. Over a month, that's an extra half-day of deliveries. Over a year? Do the math. Faster scanning directly translates to more stops, more earnings, less stress.
And when it's minus 25 outside in Winnipeg or Edmonton, every minute you spend fumbling with gloves off in the warehouse is a minute too many.
Does It Work With My Carrier?
Yes. FlexMesh continuous scan works with waybills from:
- Amazon Logistics
- FedEx Ground and Express
- UPS
- Purolator
- Intelcom
- Canada Post
The AI OCR doesn't care which carrier printed the label. It reads the address, logs it, and moves on.
How Do I Get It?
Update FlexMesh to version 0.4.0. That's it. Continuous scan is available to all users — no premium tier, no paywall.
